Recital Information

Our recital is scheduled for June 11 & 12, 2010 at Havens Auditorium at I.U.K.

Every student is invited & encouraged to participate in recital however this is not mandatory. Please keep in mind the cost of costumes (usually average $60-65 per costume) and the time commitment for recital. Dancers in Pre-Dance, Beginning I, Beginning II, and Beginning III classes will do two dances but purchase only one costume. They will perform in the Saturday, 2:00 show only. Dancers in Beginning IV classes will do three dances and purchase two costumes. They will perform in both the Friday, 7:00 p.m. show and the Saturday, 7:00 p.m. show. Additional classes such as pointe, modern, musical theatre, and hip hop will each require a special costume.

We have an attendance policy from January to recital time: dancers who miss more than one class a month will not be allowed to participate in recital with that particular class. Costume fees will NOT be refunded. Students who will be participating in sports in the spring may want to take note of this before they purchase costumes this year - especially those with Saturday classes. The only exception to this rule will be illness or students who have school band commitments or school musicals, as these activities are related to dance in the performance area, or school functions that affect grades.

More recital information, including ticket purchasing, rehearsal schedule, and photo schedules will be available later in the season.

Costume information will be distributed to students in November with costume fees due in full by December 5th.

There are special rules for recital. Please review them by clicking here.

Bulletin Boards

Please be sure to check ALL bulletin boards for week to week information concerning studio issues, master classes, recital updates, etc, or check the news page of this site. Students may post dancewear items for sale on this bulletin board but please do so on small note cards.

Conventions/Competitions

Watch the Bulletin Boards for details. Conventions are a fun and productive learning experience. Dancers of at least Level 1 are encouraged to participate. See Becky, or e-mail her, if you are interested in learning more.

Reception Area

We are one of the very few dance studios who allow parents to watch classes any time they wish. Therefore, we ask that you please show your appreciation for this privilege by observing the "No food or drinks allowed" rule, by keeping the noise level to a minimum, and by making sure young children are supervised and well-behaved at all times. Brothers and sisters are certainly welcome, however please keep in mind that the reception area is not a recreation or visiting center.

Class Leveling

Our leveling system has been designed to accommodate the ability and ages of our dancers, and to be clear to parents. We have developed a syllabus for each class which you can see by clicking here. This has changed from the leveling we had in the past so please do not be concerned with the "name" of your level or the names of the other dancers in your class. Careful evaluation of past performance, ability, and attendance as well as age have gone into all decisions of class placement.

Although we try very hard to accommodate each student's needs, sometimes our schedule may conflict with your other activities. Please be aware that students will NOT be allowed to change to a higher-level class due to an outside time conflict. Should a conflict exist, students will need to adjust their personal schedule or drop to a lower level class. Parents or students who question their placement should make an appointment with Becky for an evaluation and an opportunity to discuss concerns. Teachers will not hesitate to move a student up or down if their ability and performance in class suggests the need. It is our desire to have each student placed in the best possible class for their individual learning needs. Any student who wishes to take additional classes should see Becky for scheduling.
